Goddess Lakshmi

Diwali is a festival of Indians which comes in the month October or November every year. On this festival there is a gazetted holiday in the country. There is a significance of glowing candles or clay lamps, that is this signifies the victory of the light over the darkness.

People worship Goddess Lakshmi for the sake of their wellness and prosperity. Goddess Lakshmi is called the Goddess of Wealth. On the day of Diwali, businessmen & shop owners generally close their old accounts and start with the new accounts in the hope that this year Ma Lakshmi will give them a lot more wealth.

Why is Diwali Celebrated?

There is a history of celebrating the Diwali festival. On this day, Lord Rama came back to his birthplace Ayodhya (Know More About City Ayodhya) after 14 years of exile. People of Ayodhya celebrated His return by lighting the whole city with the Ghee lamps. This all happened in the Treta Yuga. Since that time, Diwali is celebrated with a great excitement.
